About
Thompson Newkirk is a nationally touring Southern pop-rock artist whose music pulses with city grit and coastal soul. Currently based in New York City, Newkirk delivers a relaxed yet magnetic energy through his guitar-driven sound, fusing heartfelt storytelling, commanding vocals, and the kind of melodies that stick with you long after the show ends. His lyrics capture life’s highs, lows, and in-betweens with an easygoing authenticity.
Fresh off the success of his ‘What You Sippin’ On?’ tour, spanning the East Coast and Southeast, with a standout performance supporting Surfing for Daisy, Newkirk is further cementing his reputation as an emerging voice in modern Southern rock. Named Elixir Strings’ Artist of the Month and featured in Canvas Rebel Magazine, he’s drawing attention for a sound that nods to Tedeschi Trucks Band, Dire Straits, and Jason Isbell while carving out a lane all his own.
Onstage, Newkirk and his band deliver the same road-trip spirit that defines his music: immersive, unfiltered, a little wild, a little reflective, and deeply felt. From the first chord to the final note, he invites audiences to kick back, let loose, and ride the wave.
Next up is ‘Winter Wonderland’, a 2026 tour with new dates rolling out. Get yourself a hot drink and get ready to ride.

“Thompson’s new single, What You Sippin On?, a clever country-adjacent song Billy Joel might have composed if he ever tended bar.”
